THE DOCTRINE OF REVELATION - NOTES FROM KING OF KINGS TEACHING

Revelation: Means that God reveals to man the stuff that he wants written.
 
Inspiration: Means man actually writes what God wants written.
 
Illumination: Man receives what God has written.
 
Natural Theory: Inspired poetically.
 
Mechanical Thepry: Cold dictation.
 
Content Theory: Only the main thoughts are inspired.
 
Spiritual Rule Only Theory: Religion and ethecial but not history science
 
Verbal Plenary: All (plenary) the words of the bible are inspired by God. (Matthew 4:4 Luke 4:4).
Verbal Plenary means;
 
1. All parts are equal in inspiration not equal in inportance.
 
2. Does not guarantee that modern Bible translations are inspired.
 
3. Does not allow for false teaching but does record false ststements or wrong conduct that actually occurred in the bible.
 
4. Does not permit any historical, scientific, or prophetical errors whatsoever.
 
5. Does not prohibit personal research.
 
6. Does not deny use of external Biblical resources.
 
7. Does not mean that God usurped or overwelmed the writers.
 
8. Does not exclude the use of allegorical, symbolic or hyperbolic languages.
 
9. Does not mean uniformity of details when different personalites describe a historical event from their perspective.
 
Seven Purifing Systems:
1. Miracle producing ability
2. Accuracy of its prophecies
3. Internal Unity
4. Holy and moral influence on man
5. Collabration of History
6. Scientific accuracy
7. The character of the authors
